Great Days Out at the WACA

One of the world’s most iconic cricket grounds, the WACA has seen countless classic cricket matches over its many glorious years. Despite not hosting the number of matches the MCG or SCG do, it hosted no less than three exciting 2015 World Cup matches, and the WACA, as an association, will celebrate its 130th anniversary on 25 November 2015.

There are many great days out to be had at the WACA, including Sheffield Shield matches. Admittedly not as exciting as the international matches held at our largest stadium, they’re still great fun for anyone with a love of the sport. If you find the usual fare of chips and pies at the ground a touch too heavy, take a quick drive over to Le Vietnam on Barrack Street. Just 600 metres away, this popular café and restaurant almost completely blends into the surrounding landscape but it’s one to keep your eye out for. Their bánh mì is considered to be among the best in Perth, the prices are just right, and there’s a fantastic premium menu if you’re looking for something more substantial.

Hula Bula Bar
A great choice to celebrate another win by the Scorchers, Hula Bula Bar is located just 800 metres from the WACA, more than far enough away to justify being chauffeur driven there in a hummer limo! Tiki madness will surely ensue to the sounds of calypso and ukuleles in this kitschy bar that rejoices in the island culture the world celebrated in such a big way during the 50s and 60s. Hula Bula Bar specialises in rum cocktails and regularly holds colourful theme nights.
