Celebrating Ten Years of Pink
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the McGrath Foundation, a charity co-established by the late wife of Australian pace legend Glen McGrath, Jane McGrath.
This important Australian charity seeks to increase awareness of breast cancer among young Australian women, as well as raise money to place McGrath Breast Care nurses in local communities around Australia, including right here in Western Australia and our scenic state capital, Perth.
Like all Australians, the team at Bellagio Limousines acknowledges and respects the work this remarkable charity performs on behalf of Australian women.
Our outgoing local chauffeurs were very proud indeed to chauffeur a number of pink attired punters around the city to various charity events on Thursday, 18th June 2015 to celebrate the milestone 10th anniversary year of the annual Jane McGrath Day at the Sydney Cricket Ground, where scenes of a sea of bright pink were a remarkable sight to behold.
Whether you did your part on the day by hiring a pink limo in Perth, donned a pink shirt whilst watching the cricket at home or at the pub, or made a donation to a great cause, the day was nothing shy of a complete success with more than $5 million raised this year.
Whilst we’d all love to see a sea of bright pink here at our much beloved WACA and show our support for the McGrath Foundation in person, there are still a number of wonderful ways to show your support for the foundation when cruising around the city in a pink hummer hired in Perth, like painting the town a bright shade of pink!
The Wesley Curtin Pink Tiger Day
Saturday, 13th June was the day on which the 5th Annual Pink Tiger Day was held this year. A record year in many ways, the event raised more than $52,000 and smashed the previous record of $31,000 set last year. This truly is something for everyone who calls Perth home to be proud of, as it is by far the single largest fundraiser for the foundation by a sporting club across the country. And right here in our city of Perth!
McGrath Foundation ambassador and local cricketing legend Adam ‘Gilly’ Gilchrist was there in person to woo the crowd with a speech and have ‘selfies’ taken with the ladies in pink. By all accounts the day was a roaring success and was finished off with a brilliant set by local band The Fit Swimmers.
Oh, and there was also an exciting footy match between our local lads in the Wesley Curtin Football Club A team who proudly donned their famous pink jerseys and battled it out with CBC Fremantle with more than 500 spectators cheering them on.
With the sun shining and everyone in attendance enjoying themselves in the name of a very worthwhile cause, what a fantastic day it was to be out and about under those perfect Perth skies before jumping back in a luxurious pink limo and heading into town to continue the festivities.
